Health Literacy Strategies
Hospitals and other stakeholders are invited to a free Town Hall Call to learn more about Leapfrog’s approach on Health Literacy. Cindy Brach, a Senior Healthcare Researcher at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, will present health literacy strategies and tools that hospitals can use to improve patient engagement, safety, and quality. Learn how to implement health literacy universal precautions to ensure that all patients – regardless of their health literacy – can find, understand, and use health information and services.

Cindy Brach is the senior healthcare researcher at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). In this role Cindy oversees the research and development of tools designed to deliver healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Her areas of expertise include health literacy, cultural and linguistic competence, and practice improvement. She serves as Co-Chair of the HHS Health Literacy Work Group and is on the Healthy People 2030 Health Communication and Health Information Technology Workgroup. She leads AHRQ ‘s health literacy work and is a member of AHRQ’s Shared Decisionmaking Team, its Dissemination and Implementation Group, and the EvidenceNOW Team that focuses on improving primary healthcare quality. Cindy has authored or contributed to over 80 publications and has shared her knowledge and expertise speaking at numerous professional conferences and webinars.
